Bamidele Wale-Oshinowo is Lecturer at Faculty of Business Administration, University of Lagos. Her broad teaching and research interests are in the areas of entrepreneurship and strategic management. More specifically, she focuses on the following core research areas: firm culture, strategic orientation, entrepreneurial orientation and family orientation using research and organisational contexts such as ethnicity, gender, family businesses, small-to-medium scale enterprises (SMEs), micro-businesses, and sole proprietorships, mostly in developing African economies. She has published in the fields of entrepreneurship and family business in both national and international academic journals, and has also attended and delivered papers at academic conferences in the UK and Nigeria. Bamidele has been invited to give talk at non-academic conferences and seminars; most recent was International Women’s Day, held in Ogun State, Nigeria (2017). She also acted as a co-proponent for the forth-coming 2017 European Academic of Management (EURAM) in the Family Business Track. She was recently awarded a research grant to investigate the distinguishing attributes and success factors of family businesses in the Nigerian context. Prior to joining the academia, Bamidele worked in the industry for over eight years in Nigeria, in the areas of relationship management, financial advisor and business advisory services. In addition, she has acted in various capacities as a Public Speaker, Youth Mentor, Women Leader, and an entrepreneur. She has facilitated trainings in several organisations, both in the private and public sectors cutting across diverse industries. She is also actively involved with the industry consulting for companies in areas such as succession planning, capacity building, and entrepreneurial skills development. She is a member of the following professional institutions: British Academy of Management (BAM); African Academy of Management (AFAM), The Academy of Management Nigeria (TAMN), Nigerian Institute of Management ‘Chartered’ (NIM) and National Institute of Marketing Nigeria (NIMN). Leisurely, she engages mostly in community projects and programmes that addresses youth and women empowerment.
