Funke Adekoya is a Partner at ÆLEX, one of the largest full service commercial law firms in Nigeria where she heads the Dispute Resolution practice group. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, also a Chartered Arbitrator and a past Chairman of its Nigerian Branch. She is also a board member of the recently established Lagos Court of Arbitration as well as of the African Users Council of the LCIA (London Court of International Arbitration). Funke is listed on the arbitrators’ panel of the Kigali International Arbitration Centre. She is a member of Arbitral Women, International Chamber of Commerce, International Bar Association. Among other listings, Funke is a member of Business Recovery & Insolvency Practitioners Association of Nigeria, Insolvency International, Nigerian Bar Association and also a member of International Council for Commercial Arbitration. She is a member of Africa International Legal Awareness (AILA), advisory board which helps to establish, foster and maintain links between AILA and its members and prospective users of its services, to ensure that training programmes and other services it provides to its members and users are relevant, cost effective, efficient and consistent with current best practice. Funke Adekoya received her legal education at University of Ile, Nigeria and Harvard Law School (LL.M.). She was elevated to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in 20o1. She has been a member of Nigeria’s Body of Benchers since 1999 and was elevated to Life Bencher in March, 2007. She is also a frequent speaker at conferences in the fields of litigation and arbitration.
