Biography

Prof. Reem Bahgat commenced her post as the Cultural Counsellor & Director at the Egyptian Embassy in UK since May 12th, 2016. She is also a Faculty Member at Cairo University since 1993. From December 2014 till May 2016, Prof. Reem Bahgat was Assistant to Cairo University President for Informatics and Information Technology. From January 2009 till November 2014, Prof. Reem Bahgat was the Dean of Faculty of Computers and Information – Cairo University, and from June 2006 till January 2009, she has been the Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research in the same Faculty, while during August 2003 till July 2006, she has been the Head of Computer Science Department. Prof. Bahgat received her PhD. Degree in Computer Science from Imperial College London in 1991. Prof. Reem Bahgat was also consultant to several national projects for the documentation and digitization of Egypt’s cultural heritage, and was co-founder of the Center for Documentation of Cultural and Natural Heritage (CULTNAT), affiliated to Bibliotheca Alexandrina and supported by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. Since the year 1998, Prof. Bahgat was representing the Egyptian partner in several EU-funded projects.
