Many consider the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region as one of the most important emerging parts of the world economy in the 21st century. MENA is strategically vital as it produces the majority of the world’s oil. However, despite the region’s oil, most MENA countries score lower on Human Development Index (HDI) world ranking, with GDP, productivity and investment rates well below the global average. It is, therefore, becoming widely accepted that the dominant economic model of the region – based on the public sector, oil incomes and workers’ remittances – is not up to the challenges of modern globalisation and the needs of advanced knowledge-based societies.

Biography

Hisham Yusuf Abdelrahman, a PhD holder and Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute (FCMI), a VIP member in the worldwide Who’s Who USA Registry of executives, professionals and entrepreneurs, is an experienced senior manager who leads H&H consultancy since 2001. Currently he is the VP of Business Development at EL Faris LLC – Dubai. He is project founder assumed GM of FCC Cultural Center. He served as principal consultant at Skopos Consulting and Louise Allan Worldwide, accredited consultant to WB and UN. Hisham expertise covers wide-ranging disciplines including technical, managerial, financial, quality, legal and cultural activities, particularly on Business Development, Strategic Management, Project Management, Marketing Management, Leadership, Problem Solving and Revenue Growth. Over 30 year experience in designing, delivering and managing major organizational projects and has the capacity to evaluate their effectiveness. Fully bi-lingual Arabic and English.
