Biography

Dr. Faisal Rana is currently working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Finance at Effat University. He gained PhD in Economics from Massey University (New Zealand) in December 2013. Prior to his current job, he has taught postgraduate and undergraduate courses in economics and finance at Bursa Orhangazi University (Turkey), Massey University (New Zealand) and Iqra University (Pakistan). He has also worked as a researcher in Economics for over six years in Pakistan’s Central Bank before pursuing doctoral studies. His primary research interests lie in international macroeconomics, international finance, cross-border capital flows and development economics. His research work has been published in high-quality journals including Journal of Banking & Finance (ranked A* according to ABDC list), Journal of International Money & Finance (ranked A according to ABDC list) and Contemporary Economic Policy (ranked B according to ABDC list). He currently serves on the editorial boards of Journal of Management Sciences and Journal of Finance and Economics Research. Some of my awards and fellowships as a student, researcher and employee include: “Best Paper Award” for paper presented at World Business Research Conference held in Beijing, China, June 2015; “Scientific Publications’ Award” for paper published in Journal of Banking and Finance; “Judges Choice Award and People’s Choice Award” for best paper presentation at 3rd MUPSA Doctoral Symposium, Massey University; Topped in all courses in Postgraduate Certificate in Business, Massey University; “Letter of Appreciation” from Chair, Graduate Research School at Massey University; “Massey University Conference Grant” for paper presentations in New Zealand and Spain; “Departmental Commitment Awards” for the years 2005 & 2007 by State Bank of Pakistan; “President of Pakistan Merit Scholarship” for MSc Economics program at Quaid-i-Azam University.
